After falling just short of
reaching the German Cup final losing in the Semi-Finals last year,
there was high hope heading into this year's Cup. What a Let Down!
VfL Wolfsburg lost in the second round conceding 5 goals to VfL Bochum.
In Round 1, Wolfsburg drew 2nd
League team Chemnitzer. Die "Wölfe" were lucky even to
advance. Playing at Chemnitzer, VfL won 3-2. After spotting
Chemntizer an early goal, they applied the pressure, scoring the next
three goals (Nowak, Chemnitzer own goal & Juskowiak). Chemnitzer
scored another goal late to make the game interesting, but Wolfsburg
was able to hold on and advance to the 2nd Round.
The 2nd Round saw the battle
between the VfL's and Wolfsburg did not come out on top. Losing 5-4
at Bochum in a wild game that saw Wolfsburg blow a 2 goal lead, come
back twice to tie the score only to finally give up the game-winner
in the 90th minute. Goals for VfL were scored by Feldhoff, Thomsen
& Akonnor (2) respectively.
